What is Canine Good Citizen (CGC)?
At the AKC, we believe that all dogs can be good dogs, and all owners can be great owners, all it takes is a little bit of training, lots of love, and of course, plenty of praise along the way.
That’s why we created the Canine Good Citizen® (CGC) program: an expert-made training program designed to help you and your dog be the best you can be–together.
Canine Good Citizen is a 10-skill test that teaches good manners to dogs and responsible dog ownership to their owners.
This class will run 5 consecutive Tuesdays from 6-7 pm starting June 30th and ending with exam day July 28th. Justin McMahon of Midwest Canine will be running the class as well as proctoring the exam. Doodlekins will be hosting the 4 week course followed by an optional official exam on week 5 where your dog will be tested on the rules outlined in AKC’s Official Canine Good Citizen Testing Manual.
The 4 week class costs $200 and you will get 3 weeks of CGC guided practice as well as a Mock Test
Testing is optional on Week 5 and costs $50 per handler/dog team
Your Dog will be tested on the following after the 4 weeks of practice!
- Test 1 : Accepting a friendly stranger
- Test 2 : Sitting politely for petting
- Test 3 : Appearance and grooming
